What lies behind this number
Each increase represents a proportional share of expected live births since local midnight, not a new hospital report.
How Metrilum calculates it
We derive an average per second from the latest UN medium projection for 2026 and apply only the share of today's elapsed time.
What one number cannot show
It does not distinguish countries, times of day or seasonal patterns. It is a smooth representation of an annual projection, not a live connection to global civil registers.
